HAWKWALK - A Day with a Difference
Half Day Experience
The half day experience would be concentrated in an informal classroom atmosphere with a mixture of talks and hands-on a Harris hawk
or if you would prefer a whole day . . .
10.00 am
Arrival - Welcome with tea, coffee etc
10.15 am
Move to classroom and begin with an introduction to the birds and equipment used Explain and chat about the different types of raptors used and their quarry. Show demonstrate and practice the safe handling procedure and gain confidence around and with handling the birds Give general information on equipment needed and used with show stock Chat about the weighing and training of birds of prey, what they eat, catch etc.
12 noon
Demonstrate flying a hawk and allow the client an opportunity to fly the bird to the fist from trees and hedges, at the same time chatting about original habitat, history of falconry, the local environment and countryside and local quarry.

Back to classroom allowing the clients to tether birds back to perches
